1. God is holy and cannot look upon sin.

3. Because God is just, man deserves to die both physically and spiritually.

4. Man cannot save himself, even through his religious works.
“We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away” Isaiah 64:6
“He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy” Titus 3:5
5. Because God is love, He paid for man’s sin by Jesus death on the cross.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” John 3:16
“But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities…and with his wounds we are healed” Isaiah 53:5
“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” 2 Corinthians 5:21
“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed” 1 Peter 2:24
“And the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin” 1 John 1:7
6. You must repent, by the power of God, and trust only in Christ to save you.
“Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out” Acts 3:19
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me’” John 14:6
“But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” John 1:12
“Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life” 1 John 5:12
7. Salvation is a free gift which can only be received and never earned.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” Romans 6:23
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast” Ephesians 2:8-9
8. When someone trusts in Christ to save them, God gives assurance of salvation.
“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life” 1 John 5:13
